Columbus Police Department detectives are investigating the death of a 17-year-old juvenile in the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center.
Officers were sent to the center at 2359 Illinois Ave. at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday about a juvenile male who had attempted to hang himself, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
CPD officers along with paramedics and Columbus firefighters administered aid to the juvenile who was later pronounced deceased by the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office at the center.
An autopsy for the juvenile is scheduled later today, according to police.
