Ghosties, goblins, Cinderella, a Chinese lady and others listened attentively as Mrs. Dennis Mierzwa, "story lady" at Bartholomew County Public Library, told a Halloween story during the weekly series for preschool children in 1969. The empty spot on the top step was occupied by an invisible ghost who stopped by to hear the spooky story. From The Republic archives

Sound of North marching band competed in the Indiana State School Music Association’s 37th annual State Finals, Columbus North’s boys and girls cross country teams competed in the IHSAA State Finals in Terre Haute and North’s boys soccer team played in the IHSAA State Finals in Indianapolis.

1994

Columbus hosted nearly 150 delegates and community members attending the state NAACP convention.

1969

An open house was held at the new Social Security office at 2526 Union Street.
