• Rep. Mary Cheney for warning Trump supporters not to vilify Lt. Colonel Vindman for his testimony about Trump’s call with the Ukrainian leader.

• immigrant and decorated war hero Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman for being a true patriot by protecting and valuing our great nation above all else.

• the Bartholomew County Public Library crew at the front desk for looking amazing in their Peter Pan costumes, because it was great to see one of my favorite books come to life.

• Sam Loescher for his thoughtful letter sharing his positive experience as a high school swimmer in Columbus, from high school swim fans in Columbus.

• the waitress at Steak ‘n Shake for great service and the waitress that gave my son the monster from the claw machine on Thursday evening.

• Sharon Mangas for her delightful column about Halloween memories, from a lady who shares some of the same.

• Kalee and Rob at Centra on National Road for their excellent help in getting my credit card straightened out and my new account, from Chet and Carolyn.

• Jason at the post office for helping me retrieve my stamps from the storm sewer, from Lindsey.

• the mother and daughter who bagged my groceries at Kroger on Tuesday, because it was so appreciated and kind of them.

• Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman for the bravery to speak the truth about the Ukraine incident.

• Barb, Frances and Pam for their years of dedication and service from Teresa and Sheila.

• the group of people who are against the death penalty and abortions.

• top White House officials, state department employees and others who are testifying before Congress and telling the truth about the withholding of Ukrainian aid.

Onions to …

• whoever is responsible for the eyesore that is the first impression visitors get when coming to our city.

• contractors who never return your calls or never show up to give you an estimate when they say they will.

• the inventor of that yucky treat called candy corn.

• those on the political right who consider soldiers, congressman and citizens as unpatriotic because they think that any speaking out on the president’s behavior is unacceptable.

• President Obama for being the worst president ever.

• the speaker of the House and the other U.S. representative for the kangaroo court they have started.

• the traffic light on Whitfield Drive onto 10th Street that needs a left turn arrow.

• rude and thoughtless downtown workers who fill up the library’s parking lot, thereby denying library patrons, including pregnant women with small children, a parking spot that should be theirs.

• those who pickup leaves who haven’t done any pickup except one time in the last month on Pearl Street.
