Ruth A. Reeves Brinker Marshall, 95, of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:37 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Brown County Health & Living Community.
Mrs. Marshall entered life April 8, 1924, in Wellington, Illinois, the daughter of George William and Clara Alice Crouch Reeves. She married John Marshall Jr. July 27, 1963; he preceded her in death June 19, 2009.
Mrs. Marshall worked on the assembly line at the former C.P. Electronics. She also was an accomplished seamstress. She made clothes for her family, there wasn’t anything she couldn’t make.
She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and she also attended Sixth Street General Baptist Church.
Mrs. Marshall was a country girl at heart; she enjoyed raising a vegetable garden and canning and she enjoyed flower gardening, being with her daughters and grandkids and eating out with family and friends. She loved being outdoors and she had a passion for fishing.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice K. Duttlinger and Clara “Criss” (Robert) Hensley both of Columbus; grandchildren, Tina (Fred) Cave of Trafalgar, Debbie (Kenny) Jordan of Dillsboro, Tim Duttlinger of Seymour, Shari Johnson of Seymour, Rickie Wright of Corbin, Kentucky, and Kiana Joyanna Jewell Hensley and Robert Malachi Hensley both of Columbus; several great and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Walker of California and Shirley (Ted) Nott of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Donald Leroy Brinker; siblings, Gracie Hendry, Margie Reneau, Dolly Hull, Rita Hardin and Harold Reeves; grandson, Jimmy Duttlinger and an infant granddaughter, Cindy Jordan.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastors Robert Hensley and Robert Baldwin will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Marshall will be laid to rest next to her husband at Garland Brook Cemetery.
