Carol “Jackie” K. Salter, 90, of Columbus died at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019, at her home in Columbus after a short illness.

Jackie was born and raised in the Chicago area, graduated from DePauw University in 1950, and married Robert “Bob” E. Salter that same year. They raised five children in Columbus, Indiana.

She had a heart for service and her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and a past member of Grace Lutheran Church. One of the joys of her life was her involvement with Bible Study Fellowship for 44 years. She was a dedicated volunteer in the community and at her church throughout the years.

Survivors include her son, Kenny (Melanie) Salter; daughters Susy (Stan) Peters and Beth (John) Grote; her grandchildren, Joshua, Zak, and Jessamyn Salter, Alexis (Mike) Apodaca, Laura, Amy, and Ben Peters, Alicia (Mike) Anderson, Robert (Kelsey) Grote, Katherine (Wyatt) Wukie; seven great-grandchildren; and her cousin, David (Donna) Steger.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Salter; sons Steve and Tim Salter; and a grandson, Jeremy Salter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 719 5th St, in Columbus with the Reverend Patrick Galligar officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Cremation will follow the service, and private inurnment will be at a later date at Garland Brook Cemetery.
