Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a Franklin woman on drug-related charges on Friday after a traffic stop.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Leah Burton was driving behind a vehicle on northbound Indianapolis Road at 11 p.m. Friday when the driver activated the left turn signal.
The vehicle then veered right onto the shoulder of the roadway before making a wide left turn on to Lowell Road, deputies said.
As the vehicle approached the stop sign, it turned directly in front of a vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. 31 forcing that vehicle to change lanes to prevent a collision, deputies said. At that time, Burton initiated a traffic stop in the area of Southline Drive and U.S. 31.
After making contact with the driver identified as Amy Adair, 38, Franklin, K9 Bravo was deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, deputies said.
Adair was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of heroin and possession of legend drug injection device.
She has since been released from jail, jail officials said.
