Incumbent Republican David Bush won the Columbus City Council District 3 seat, defeating Democratic challenger Katea Ravega.
Bush, 32, received 797 votes, or nearly 61.07% of the vote, against Ravega, 42, who received 508 votes, or 38.93%.
“I’m just excited to do the job for another four years,” Bush said. “I’m excited to be behind the current administration and I am happy for all the folks who turned out to vote and appreciate the support and support of my family. I’m just excited to do it another four years.”
Bush, a majority stakeholder in Kenny Glass Inc., was appointed by Republican precinct members in December 2018 to fill a vacant council seat after former councilman Frank Jerome resigned after moving out of the district.

Bush narrowly defeated challenger Russ Poling by 25 votes during the GOP primary on May 7. Although Bush was the incumbent, this race was his first attempt to win the seat in a general election and serve a full four-year term on the city council.
Democrats had hoped they might be able to make a run at this seat after Jerome stepped down.
Bush has said his areas of focus on the city council would be the city’s efforts to stem drug addiction and supporting the Columbus Parks Department.
Ravega, a political newcomer and a partner at law firm Quarles & Brady LLP in Indianapolis, said she enjoyed running for city council and would not rule out a second run at the District 3 seat.
“It was fun,” Ravega said. “I’ll probably do it again sometime.”
She received a law degree from Georgetown University in 2006 and a bachelor of arts in international economics from Valparaiso University in 1999.
Ravega was selected in May by Bartholomew County Democrats to replace Nancy Hoover, a former educator who had filed for the seat on the Democratic ticket, but dropped out of the race for health reasons.
Bush’s 289-vote margin of victory was the largest of any Republican on Tuesday.
