LEESBURG, FL
Harold (Mick) Rodgers, 76, passed away at 12:14 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019, in Orlando, FL. He was born on August 29, 1943, in Bell City, Missouri, to Jessie and Willa (Midelton) Rodgers. After his discharge from the Navy, he moved to Columbus, Indiana, and eventually to Becks Grove Road in Brown County, Indiana. Following retirement, he and his wife became snowbirds at Holiday Travel Resort in Leesburg, FL.
Mr. Rodgers was employed at Hartup Tool & Die for eight years and then Cummins Engine Company prior to his layoff in February, 1975. He decided to try his hand at meat-cutting and did his OJT at Deano’s Market in Ogilville, IN. He was also employed at Smith’s Grocery in Ogilville, Nolting’s SuperValu in Edinburgh and Brownstown, IN.
Mick served for many years as a baseball coach for his sons’ teams in the Bartholomew County Little League organization, representing teams from Ogilville. There were many nights spent at the ball diamond with a nutritious meal of hot dogs and popcorn!
Mr. Rodgers is survived by his wife, Susan (Bean) Rodgers and three sons: Kevin (Kelly) of Porter, Texas; Mark, Leesburg, FL; and Steve (Jennifer) of Columbus, IN. Grandchildren: Samantha (Andrew) Schrank, Lithopolis, OH; Cameron Rodgers, Chicago, IL; Bryce Frederickson, Blaine, Mia, and Sierra Rodgers, all of Columbus, IN; Peyton Rodgers of Porter, TX; and one great-grandchild, Joseph Rodgers of Columbus.
He is also survived by four brothers: Wayne of Leesburg; Larry (JoAnn), Sikeston, MO; Jerry (Donna), Tupelo, MS; and Frank (Melba), Mountain Home, AR; and one sister, Linda Boykin, Sikeston, MO, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were brothers, Jesse; Jim; both of Columbus; Anthony (Butch) Howard of TN, and Roy Dean (infant), MO. Sisters: Ruby Taylor, MS; Della McManus, MS; Stella Rodgers (infant), MO; Faye Fritz, Sikeston, MO; and Brenda Sue Rodgers, Sikeston, MO.
At his request, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
