Bartholomew County residents are invited today to hear students from significantly Muslim-populated counties share their experiences as exchange students to America.
Local social justice organization Bartholomew County Indivisible will host leaders of PAX Academic Exchange and students from Egypt, Kyrgyzstan and Indonesia at its regular meeting tonight to share their experiences in the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study program.
The meeting is tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2651 California St.
The YES program was enacted by Congress in response to the events of Sept. 11, 2001. This program is administered in partnership with the U.S. Department of State and provides scholarships to high school students from select countries with significant Muslim populations.
