Twin Cities Raceway Park in Vernon has named its 2019 season champions for their respective divisions of racing. The track will hold its awards banquet on Feb. 29 at the Pines in Seymour.
Among the champions this year was Joey Kramer of Hanover, who was the top driver in the crate late model division. Kramer drove the Randy Robbins Racing owned MasterSbilt Race Cars entry to the championship over Tory Collins of North Vernon. Tory’s nephew Trent Collins, also of North Vernon, was third in points, followed by Keegan Cox of Franklin and Bodi Henry of Scipio.
Kramer, 44, is the son of former racer Dee Kramer, and it was his first Twin Cities championship since the 1997 season, when he won the street stock track title.
Completing the top 10 at Twin Cities in the crate late model division were Michael Daugherty of Lafayette, Mike Bechelli of Elizabethtown, Bob Sterrett of Scottsburg, Marty O’Neal of Spencer and Mark Barber of North Vernon.
Troy Clark of North Vernon edged out his son Bryson to win the pure stock division championship at Twin Cities. Mickey Hines of Scipio was third behind the Clark family, with Dusten Carr of Underwood and Keaton Streeval of Edinburgh rounding out the top five drivers.
For Clark, 48, it was his seventh career track championship at Twin Cities. In 17 feature races at Twin Cities this season, Clark won five features and had 15 top-five finishes.
Clark’s sponsors this year were Miller Pest Control and Lawncare, Gilpin Electric and Generator Services, Marco’s Pizza, Turner Machine Specialties, All Phase Electric, Phat Guys Sports Bar and Grill, NAPA of Madison, Rob and Jo’s Body Shop, BAM Racing Engines, G&G Oil, CTS Core, JCE Complete Fuel Systems, Katie’s Perfect Style of North Vernon and BGR Army.
The rest of the top 10 in the pure stock class were Brent McMillan of North Vernon, Ralph Lane of Greensburg. Blake Hull of Holton, Daniel Hupp of Scipio and Josh Walters of North Vernon.
Jeremy Helton of Paris Crossing was the top driver in the super stock division for 2019. Austin Burton of Edinburgh finished second to Helton in the final standings, followed by Danny Hupp, Ross Smith of Columbus and Tony Arthur of Williams.
Helton, 33, is the son of former racer Jeff Helton and it was his second career track title in the super stock division at Twin Cities with his first coming in 2016. He won eight feature races this year. His sponsors this year included Indiana Spike and Rail, Albertson Excavating, Lichlyter Logging, Diesel Tune-Up, CTS Core, Crazy Craig Auto Detailing, Part-Times Mowing and Robbie Hill.
The remainder of the top 10 for the super stock division were Doug McCullough of Greencastle, Jamie Laufer of Deputy, Josh Turner of Edinburgh, Sam Arthur of Harrodsburg and Austin Perry of North Vernon.
Andy Anderson of North Vernon claimed the top position in the hornet division, taking the track title at Twin Cities over Warren Laufer of Madison, Bryce Burton of Edinburgh, Tony Napier Sr. of North Vernon and Jamie Laufer of Deputy.
Anderson, 33, won 10 features at Twin Cities this season and recorded 14 overall feature wins in 2019. It was his first career track title and his sponsors this year were Hammerdiown Powerstrokes, All Phase Electric Supply, Cain’s Tree Service and Turn 4 Graphics.
William Moyer of Scottsburg led the next five in points, followed by Ryan Meek of North Vernon, Jimmy Arthur of Bedford, D.J. Russ of North Vernon and Tony Napier II of North Vernon.
Trent Green of Milton, Kentucky, won the open wheel modified track championship at Twin Cities over Lee Hobbs of Mitchell, Mike Bechelli of Elizabethtown, Jacoby Hines of Trafalgar and John Trowbridge of Hayden.
For Green, 27, it was his first career championship. His Lightning Chassis modified was sponsored by Terry’s Heating and Cooling, Todd’s Wrecker and Repair, KBC Graphix, Smoker’s Discount Tobacco, Fastlane BP and Madison Tool, Inc.
Completing the top 10 in the modified class were Derrick Huber of Columbus, Cory Hegreberg of Milton, Kentucky, Dan Lewellen of Trafalgar, Brandon Ramsey of Florence, Kentucky, and Michael Douglas of North Vernon.
Setser wins in Illinois
Gunnar Setser and Setser Racing of Columbus returned to Wayne County Speedway in Wayne County, Illinois, on Nov. 10, and the talented young driver made his 600cc Winged Micro Sprint debut.
The youngster, who turned 11 on Nov. 3, charged to a convincing heat race win, earning him the pole position for the feature. Setser grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and led every lap of the 15-lap main event to score his first-ever 600cc Winged Micro Sprint victory.
Following Setser across the finish line were Koert Mehler, Troy Leonard, Ayden Gatewood, and Aidan Salisbury.
Awards banquet set

From 10 years ago in 2009, the Brownstown Speedway named their track champions for the season. Steve Barnett (late models), Alan Magner (super stocks), Devin Gilpin (modifieds), Darrell Burton (bombers), Jeremy Owens (pure stocks), John Mayer Jr. (hornets) and Chevy Goodson (mini-stocks) were the top drivers in their respective divisions.
