The Salvation Army food pantry, one of four in Bartholomew county, closed until mid-January because of limited personnel to operate it while also coordinating its annual coat drive, Angel Tree and kettle campaign.

A choral performance, candlelight procession and lighting of the community tree and more than 20 outdoor displays at Mill Race Park officially kicked of the Christmas season in Columbus.

1969

Purdue quarterback and former Columbus High School standout athlete Mike Phipps was named to the first team of the United Press International All-American team and was voted Purdue’s most valuable player for the 1969 season.
