Vaughn to speak about redistricting

Bartholomew County Indivisible is hosting Julia Vaughn, policy director of Common Cause Indiana, as guest speaker at the organization’s meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2651 California St., where Vaughn will talk about the issue of fair redistricting in Indiana, advocating for fair, non-gerrymandered legislative districts that are to be drawn in the 2021 session after the U.S. Census.

Common Cause is a nonpartisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy.

According to a press release about the event, Common Cause supports reforms including the creation of independent redistricting commissions, the hiring of nonpartisan state staff and clear, constitutional rules for how lines should be drawn.
