Purdue University’s winter commencement set

Purdue alumna, distinguished professor and researcher Rita Colwell will keynote two commencement ceremonies Dec. 15 at Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus.

The winter commencement ceremonies will both take place in Purdue’s Elliott Hall of Music. Students in agriculture, education, engineering and liberal arts will graduate at 9:30 a.m. Those in health and human sciences, management, pharmacy, Purdue Polytechnic Institute, science and veterinary medicine will receive their degrees during a 2 p.m. ceremony.

Purdue University President Mitch Daniels will speak at both ceremonies.

The winter 2019 graduating class includes approximately 1,622 undergraduate degree candidates, 683 master’s degrees and 375 doctoral degree-seekers, as well as one candidate each for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and the Doctor of Nurse Practice degree.

Samantha Klemme, a student in the Purdue College of Agriculture from Otterbein, will give the student response in the morning session. Cole Brock, a student in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute from Brownstown, will be the student responder in the afternoon ceremony.
