
SAN BENITO, TEXAS
Bobby Gene Durham, 84, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on November 30, 2019 after a short illness. He was born in Columbus, Indiana on September 18, 1935, to Ellis and Ruth Durham. He married Sheila Breshears in California on February 8, 1959.
Bobby retired from Cummins Engine Company on December 31, 1992, after 30 years of Service. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1954-1958.
Bobby was active at the Boys Club in Columbus and won the Golden Gloves Championship in 1950.
Bobby and Sheila were long time members of The Hoosier Schooners Camping Club and Enjoyed RVing life so much that upon retirement they sold their home and possessions in Columbus and traveled full time throughout the United States and Canada for several years before settling in Deep South Texas at Fun ‘n Sun Resort in San Benito.
He enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, working with wood and traveling.
Survivors include son, Steven Durham, Grand Prairie, Texas; daughter, Debra Budd (Rick); grandson, Chad Brown (Kim); grandson, Ryan Brown, all of Columbus, and two great-grandchildren. Sisters: Mary Jane Hooker & Janet Pardieck of Columbus and Rae Marie Beesley of Upland, California; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale Richard Durham; sister, Norma Rose Allman; and great-granddaughter, Makenzie Nichole Brown.
He was a former member of Garden City Church of Christ and was currently a member of Rio Hondo Baptist Church in Rio Hondo, Texas.
