Around Town – December 5

Orchids to …

• the lady at the private school that apologizes on behalf of teachers who frequently order lunch delivery and do not tip.

• JSG, the best turkey chef, for the great turkey at Friday evening’s dinner, from your grateful two recipients.

• Lili Garcia for your assistance in contacting the parents of two students Tuesday afternoon, from the Richards’ Elementary School office staff.

• Pennie Snider for the beautiful winter planters at the Richards Elementary School front entry area — they are beautiful! — from Richards Elementary staff and visitors.

• all of the wonderful teachers, teaching assistants and support staff in our schools for continuing to do what is best for students after being publicly demeaned.

• Billie Ebencamp for always checking in on me to make sure I’m OK: you are the best neighbor I could ever ask for, from Tammy Laine.

• Republicans who have joy because of our great economy.

• Dr. Golash and nurse Mallory at Columbus Surgery for being so kind and caring through my ordeal; we need more doctors and nurses like you.

• Ed and Cathy Tower for the beautiful white pine Christmas tree that brings a lot of joy to the folks who come to Orphan Grain Train in Jonesville.

• Mr. Richard Bray for the amazing homemade cinnamon rolls Wednesday morning, from W.D. Richards Elementary office staff.

• our neighbor on Chipper Road for taking care of our yard last Friday.

• Dana Weisner for the wonderful Thanksgiving lunch delivered to us, from Scott and Yvonne Pruitt.

• the well-organized Christmas dinner given by the National Alliance on Mental Illness at First Christian Church.

• the much-needed cameras on traffic lights.

• Mark at Culligan’s for graciously coming to my rescue, from the Riverside Drive lady.

• everyone who finds joy wherever they are no matter who is in office.

• our president who continually is multi-tasking for all Americans and not letting barriers stand in his way.

Onions to …

• the designer of the new Westenedge Drive: the slow down curve is too narrow and not well lit or marked and the lanes for the entire street are too narrow — another design experiment that is a failure.

• the cellular network that pushes 5G service, yet has almost zero data service in downtown Columbus throughout the week.

• the Republican Senate that won’t act on hundreds of bills passed by the House.

• people who think one man’s removal will change everything: people come and go, you’ll still have your problems and continue crying.

• a president who is making a fool of himself at the NATO conference and disgracing the U.S. with other leaders laughing at him.

• the school board for believing everything that is presented to them by the corporation.

• school administration for giving themselves a 2.5% raise when they pay little for health insurance.

• the woman driving the red Chevy truck for texting while driving and almost causing an accident.

• those that aren’t aware that most traffic lights don’t have left turn arrows and you just have to be a little patient to make that turn.

• those that don’t realize that it’s not a big deal to have to wait until it’s your turn at a light without a left turn arrow.

• the uneducated that don’t realize socialism is government ownership by the means of production.

• House Democrats who will not pass USMCA, which would benefit all of us, instead spending millions of taxpayer dollars on another investigation — money that could be added to Social Security.

• the fast food restaurant on the north side of town that, when you specifically told the lady you wanted onions and cheese on your chili, gives neither one, but does give you one packet of hot sauce and two packets of crackers.

• those including a local representative who call Congress “do-nothings” when there have been hundreds of bills passed by the House of Representatives that are sitting on the desk of the Senate leader, waiting to be addressed.

• those who still do not understand that the United States is a democratic republic, which is the same as saying it is a democratic nation — civic classes need to be put back in schools so people can understand this terminology.

• the Democratic party running this fiasco on the impeachment hearings costing taxpayers millions of dollars.

Happy Birthday to …
