A Columbus police officer was stabbed during a disturbance call in downtown Columbus that resulted in a three-hour SWAT team standoff.

Fog and poor visibility caused a semi carrying 78,000 pounds of oranges and lemons from California to hit the soft shoulder of County Road 400W near Ogilville, skid into a ditch and flip onto its side.

Paul Jones, fire safety inspector for the city of Columbus, awaiting his turn for testing at the outpatient lab at Bartholomew County Hospital, helped avert a major fire at the facility when he was the first to smell smoke and assisted other firefighters in tracking down a small fire in a service tunnel under construction beneath the hospital.
