COLUMBUS
Jerry A. Speakman, 75, of Columbus, passed away at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Jerry was born June 27, 1944, in Pana, Illinois, the son of James T. and Mary E. Denbow Speakman. On February 15, 1969, he married Margaret Thewlis.
Mr. Speakman Retired from the AT&T Telephone Company after many years of service. He will be remembered as a handyman, a veteran and he loved his grandchildren. Jerry enjoyed tinkering, as well.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margaret; daughters, Sara Ray of New Port Richey, FL., Susan (James) Stier, Lisa (Eric) Likens, Lori (Andrew Douglas) Speakman, all of Columbus; fourteen grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Judy) Speakman of Jacksonville, Il.; sister, Linda (John) Schutte of Carmel; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Bryan Ray and son-in-law, Brian Ray.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at later date.
