
COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Robert “Bob” F. Barr, 70, of Columbus, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at IU Medical Center, Indianapolis.
Bob was born November 9, 1949 in Columbus, Indiana and was the son of Jasper W. “Jack” and Edna M. (Jennings) Barr. He married Deborah “Deb” Corbin on November 12, 1970 at Langley AFB.
Bob was a 1967 graduate of Columbus High School and 1996 graduate of Purdue University. Bob has been a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Columbus, the American Legion Post 24, and UAW Local 23. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Air Force.
Bob worked at PECO in Columbus and then worked for 30 years at GM Truck and Bus in Indianapolis.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Douglas Bauman officiating. Calling will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Air Force Ceremonial Unit and the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church (Clifty) or Miles for Myeloma.
Survivors include his wife: Deb; daughters: Jennifer (Marcus) Speer of Elizabethtown & Radie (Evan) Steiner of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Madelyn Speer of Elizabethtown; Aunt Mary Jane Miller of Nineveh, IN; cousins: Carl (Karen) Miller of Columbus, Marsha (Bruce) Ott and Karen (Jim) Kincer both of Nineveh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; uncles: Arthur (Lucille) and Alva Miller; father-in-law & mother-in-law: L. Jack & Norma Corbin; and sister-in-law, Lenora Franks.
