Around Town – January 4

Orchids to …

• Brian Bailey II for everything you do for us; you are so appreciated.

• Thurman in the seafood department at Kroger, for you are the best in the store. No matter what you are doing, you always have a smile and you are so helpful.

• Steve Leach for his letter setting the record straight on why his staff was compelled to ask a group exhibiting unruly behavior to leave and shining a bright light on the larger societal problem of some restaurant patrons feeling entitled to treat the folks serving them food and drink poorly.

• the brave restaurateurs for helping change the face of downtown, but whose enterprises in the end were unable to overcome the lack of daytime and evening shopping opportunities there and other experiences sufficiently attractive to the larger community.

• Kerry and Brian Norris for the fast and efficient service, from Peggy.

• the reveal of unredacted emails documenting that the freeze of Ukrainian aid was personally directed by Donald Trump.

• Frank and Sue Cole for helping me out, from Lisa Welch.

• my neighbors for looking after my apartment and taking care of my animals while I was out of town.

• the owner of the restaurant concerned how service industry workers are treated; there’s no respect for anything anymore.

Onions to …

• the noisy trains coming through late at night and early morning.

• our president for falling in love with Kim Jong Un when he should be protecting us.

• the school district that is too top heavy with administrators and wants to raise my taxes.

• the speeders on Goeller Boulevard.

• the president for starting a war with Iran overnight, creating an international crisis, while at the same time having such bad rapport with our allies in NATO.

• the president playing checkers, while Iran is playing chess.
