Student teachers, students and maintenance personnel cleaned soot and ashes from music books and instruments in the band and choir area at Columbus North High School in the aftermath of an electrical fire.

Unsatisfied with a Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. decision to observe Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday in school, African-American community members organized a boycott of school activities.

1970

The grand dragon of the Ku Klux Klan made an appearance in Columbus to post bond for four Indianapolis Klan members being held in Bartholomew County Jail on liquor violation charges.
