Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. officials braced for what they believed would be about $3 million in state funding cuts over the next year after the state announced it would cut spending on public schools by at least $300 million.

Bartholomew County-area residents dodged falling snow and icy roads as the season’s first big snowstorm blasted the state, closing schools and canceling athletic contests.
