Patberg scores 15 in Hoosiers’ loss at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Maryland — The Indiana women’s basketball team saw its losing streak extend to three games Monday night with a 76-62 Big Ten loss at Marlyand.

The 20th-ranked Terrapins (14-4, 5-2) jumped out to an early 8-0 lead. The No. 17 Hoosiers (14-5, 4-3) rallied to take an 18-16 advantage early in the second quarter, but Maryland closed the first half on an 18-3 run to take a 34-21 lead, and Indiana could come no closer than 10 in the second half.

Shakira Austin scored 22 points to lead four Terrapins in double figures. Grace Berger led the Hoosiers with 21 points.

Ali Patberg, a redshirt junior from Columbus North, added 15 points and led Indiana with six assists and four steals in a team-high 36 minutes. She went 4 for 11 from the field, including 0 for 1 from 3-point range, and 7 for 8 from the free-throw line.

Patberg had scored 12 points and led the Hoosiers with seven assists in Thursday’s 71-69 overtime loss to Northwestern. That came on the heels of a double-overtime loss at Iowa.
