Florence M. Julian Elgar (Toll) went to be with Jesus in her new home January 30th, 2020.

Mrs. Toll was born April 14th, 1922, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Albert & Christine Julian.

She graduated from Fishers High School in 1940. She lived most of her life in Columbus. She was involved in Scouting, being a leader for Brownies and Girl Scouts. She was a food supervisor for the Bartholomew County Hospital and worked at Bartholomew Consolidated Schools.

She was a 50+ year member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Florence enjoyed mailing out greeting cards nearly every day. She will be sadly missed by many.

The family wishes to thank Brittany and Kyle for the most generous and deep loving care they gave grandma. Also, a great gracious thank you to Larry and Marian from the north, Larry from the south and Lou Ann.

Florence is survived by children, Larry Elgar (wife Shirley) of Columbus, Gary Elgar of Elizabethtown, Nancy Wolfe of Columbus and Harold Elgar of Scipio; son-in-law, David Barnes of Shelbyville; stepchildren, Kenneth Toll (wife Vickie) of Shelbyville, Keith Toll (wife Carolyn) of Brown County and Kevin Toll (wife Margret) of Shelbyville. She was grandma to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, John W. Toll; her parents, brother, Gene; infant sister; daughter, Nyla Barnes; and great-granddaughter, Lena.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Adam Carrigan and John Ruble from Bethel Baptist Church will officiate.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.

Mrs. Toll will be laid to rest next to her husband at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
