Groups to provide grants

Analytical Engineering, Inc., in partnership with Heritage Fund — The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County — has established the AEI Youth Sports Fund to help local youth participate in sports and fitness programs in Bartholomew and surrounding counties.

Applications are now open to local nonprofit organizations with youth athletic programs to support children ages 18 and under participating in athletic activities. Grant requests from organizations can include assistance for, but are not limited to, youth sports lessons, clinics, travel, equipment, program fees or dues. Requests up to $5,000 will be considered based on financial need of the organization and barriers to participation for the selected athletic program or programs.

Nonprofit sports programs, including youth serving organizations and booster clubs, are encouraged to apply. Requests may be submitted by coaches, team leaders or athletics directors of the organization.

The deadline for organizational applications is Feb. 29. Grant awards will be announced in March.

Local organizations can find the application on Heritage Fund’s website at heritagefundbc.org. For more information, contact Kyle Hendricks, manager of Community Impact, at khendricks@heritagefundbc.org or 812-376-7772.

Each year, the AEI Sports Fund will distribute awards to organizations and individuals who are in need of assistance. More than 20 awards were made to individual applicants from the AEI Youth Sports Fund in 2019. Applications for individual athletes will open again later this year.
