New Albany tops East

NEW ALBANY — New Albany jumped out to a 41-22 halftime lead Saturday afternoon and went on to hand Columbus East a 78-40 Hoosier Hills Conference defeat.

Daniel Murphy led the Olympians with 14 points (3-15, 0-4). Tyler Boyer scored 10, and Jacob Pierce added eight.

Jets fall to Lions

HOPE — Hauser played without starting guard Jackson Paradise because of concussion Saturday and fell to Rushville 74-52.

Landon Asher and Trey Johnson each scored 11 points to lead the Jets (7-12). Bryce Bates added nine.

Lancers edge Tigers

EDINBURGH — Caleb Dewey scored 19 points, including the game-winning free throw with 16 seconds remaining, to lead Edinburgh to a 48-47 win against Crothersville on Saturday.

Noah Detling added 11 points for the Lancers (5-13).

Columbus Christian wins

Columbus Christian pulled out a 70-66 overtime win against Horizon Christian on Friday.

C.J. Reed led the Crusaders (10-21) with 24 points. Tabe Ridder and Jacob Conrad each scored 14, and Josh Jones added 10.

Trinity takes title

CAMPBELLSBURG — Class A No. 4 Trinity Lutheran captured the West Washington Sectional with 47-38 win against the host Senators.

The Cougars improve to 24-3.

Panthers fall in final

BEDFORD — Jennings County was within 29-20 at halftime, but Bedford North Lawrence pulled away for a 64-32 win in Saturday’s Jennings Sectional final.

The Panthers finish the season 10-15.

Chargers oust Cougars

VEVAY — North Decatur jumped out to a 34-21 halftime lead Friday and went on to hand South Decatur a 60-35 loss in the semifinals of the Switzerland County Sectional.

Lana Bell led the Cougars (5-19) with 13 poings. Loryn Pate added eight.
