Nancy E. Battleson, 81, of Countess Drive, died at 6:51 p.m. February 10, 2020, at her home.
Nancy was born November 11, 1938, in Vincennes, the daughter of Claude and Minnie Harvey Shoultz. She married Alvin Arensmann in 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She then married Robert D. Battleson in 2002; he preceded her in death in 2009.
She was a member of the Columbus Free Methodist Church, where she worked with teens and served on both the missions committee and the Stewards for many years. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Club.
She taught in Crawfordsville, Indiana, then at Wayne Elementary. She retired from Southside in 1997 after 38 years of teaching.
Nancy has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for 40 years and a member of both the Indiana Retired Teachers’ Association and the Bartholomew County Retired Teacher’s Association.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Columbus Free Methodist Church with the Revs. Chet Martin, Luke Maggard and Jane Noblitt officiating. Calling will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Daugherty Cemetery.

Survivors include her stepsons, David (Nancy) Battleson of Belen, New Mexico and Dale (Debby Swanson) Battleson of Omaha, Nebraska, and a stepdaughter, Donna (Robert) Yardy of Mahomet, Illinois; step-grandchildren, Nick (Liz) Arensmann, Heather (Mark) Kaesgen, Bobbi (Mark) Hardy, Keith (Jenna) Battleson, Drew (Hannah) Battleson, Andrea (Sam) Schade-Reimer, Rachel (Nathan) Taylor, Bethany (Erik) Potter, Nathan (Erica) Yardy; 13 step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris (Jean) Creek; nephew, Mike (Aggie) Brown and niece, Glenda (Hugh) Schaefer; great- nieces and nephews, Stacy ( Larry ) Rothwell, Brian (Jessica) Lanning, Jeff Lanning, Shelly Brown, Chrissy Brown; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Al and Robert; parents; siblings, Jack Shoultz, Betty Lanning, Claudia Brown, Ralph Eugene and an infant sister; and stepson, Jeff Arensmann.
