A local man was arrested on multiple charges early Wednesday morning after he was accused of resisting arrest and scuffling with CPD officers.
Officers were sent to Werner Avenue and Eighth Street at about 6:10 a.m. Wednesday about a man walking in the street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officers located the man a short time later who was identified as Cody J. Spencer, 23, of 724 Chestnut St., police said.
Spencer was confrontational with the officers and refused to stop yelling loudly, Harris said. Spencer resisted arrest when the officers attempted to place him handcuffs and a short scuffle ensued, Harris said.
After being restrained, Spencer kicked a CPD patrol car and slammed his head against one of the patrol vehicle’s windows, Harris said.
After being medically cleared at the hospital, Spencer was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was being held on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.
Spencer was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $8,500 bond, jail officials said.
