Around Town – February 22

Orchids to …

• all the kind people who helped us get back up on our feet after our fall to the sidewalk on Washington Street.

• Schmitt Elementary for organizing a fun family night at Skateland.

• the Right Rev. Larry F. Rowe for your grace and compassion.

• President Donald Trump, from true Bartholomew County Republicans.

• the carrier in Hope who does a great job getting my paper on the porch.

• el Toreo, the Mexican restaurant on U.S. 31, for having the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, from a new resident in Columbus.

• Doug Otto for his letter to the editor which I agree with.

• Doug Southern and your hard-working crew for my nice, new roof.

• Leo Morris.

Onions to …

• the school that allows a coach/teacher to continue to work without punishment after getting arrested for a driving under the influence.

• city officials for the justification to raise taxes and fees because it’ll “cost less than a Polar Pop a day.” It’s our money, and judgments shouldn’t be made on how we spend it.

• the dentist office that would not clean my teeth unless I first had expensive X-rays.

• county officials who continue to drop charges against criminals, and refuse to hold people legally responsible.

• political party members who let a wayward federal elected official go unchecked.

• parents who hover and won’t admit to their child’s wrongdoings.

• the people who think raising your own taxes to give yourself a small raise isn’t the silliest logic.

• anyone not comprehending that a pay raise will not relieve the stress and strain of a job and you’ll still have to work a second job to afford to live in Columbus.

• the letter about the president not learning his lesson.

• that great university who won a game but won’t get rid of the coach.

• the coaches and fans for yelling and finger pointing for no reason at all, nice example you are setting in front of the children.

Happy Birthday to …

• Cody Burker from your family and Donna.

• Becky Floyd from your family.

• Grandma Judy, from your favorite granddaughter!

• Mary Glasson, from her friends at UUCCI.

• Linda Iwamuro, from your friends at UUCCI.

Happy Birthday to …

• Elsie Hege, from your friend at Bartholomew County Democratic Women.
