Columbus police have confirmed the correct name of a shooting victim found in the Tool Dynamics parking lot on Feb. 26.
Leobardo Rodriguez Flores, 37, Columbus, was found in the parking lot at 835 S. Marr Road at 11:15 p.m. Feb. 26.
Bartholomew County Coroner Clayton Nolting said Flores died from a gunshot wound to the head. An autopsy for the victim was completed on Feb. 28 as Columbus police and a death investigation team continue an investigation into the death. The Columbus Police Department later released information that Flores was shot in the face.
Flores worked at Tool Dynamics and CE Systems and spent his summers working for Nading Farms, according to his obituary.
The victim’s car was found seven blocks away from where the body was discovered. The silver-colored 1998 Honda Civic was discovered in the parking lot of a business off State Street, just a few blocks southeast of Gladstone Avenue.
Representatives at Tool Dynamics contacted by telephone said that they were unable to comment about the incident.
Since there are several retailers and manufacturers in the vicinity, investigators are requesting that anyone who resides or owns a business in this area that has video or security cameras to contact the Columbus Police Department at 812-376-2600.
The Death Investigation Team consists of specially-trained city, county and state officers, as well as the offices of Bartholomew County Prosecutor Bill Nash and Nolting.
