The city of Columbus Department of Public Works will collect leaves, pine needles and other yard debris curbside as part of its annual Spring Sweep program.
Collections will begin March 23 and will run through April 3 for all residential areas of Columbus. Yard debris should be curbside by 7 a.m. on your trash pick-up day.
Residents requiring pick up of yard debris will be required to place it in a yard waste toter beginning April 6 through Dec. 18. “Toter” brand compost toters may be purchased at Lowe’s Home Improvement stores.
Here are some tips for placing items out for collection:
Compost toters and brush will collected the same day as your trash.
Small piles of tree limbs are to be stacked next to the curb.
Grass, leaves, flowers and garden debris go in compost toters.
One armful of brush/small sticks can go in your trash toter each week.
Schedule a special pick-up for large amounts of yard waste, tree limbs, etc. by calling the Department of Public Works at (812) 376-2509.
