CRH offers call center, restricts public entrances

Columbus Regional Health has launched a COVID-19 Triage Resource Call Center for information on Coronavirus, COVID-19. Those with concerns or questions about potential exposure or symptoms of Coronavirus should call 812-379-4449. This phone number is staffed by trained nurses.

As Columbus Regional Health continues to actively prepare and respond to the evolving global situation, officials there are asking those with concerns, to utilize the call center first or contact their doctor or primary care physician’s office, according to a statement released Thursday by the hospital system. Anyone experiencing a true medical emergency should call 911.

Effective Friday, the 17th Street hospital campus will restrict public entrances to the hospital and actively screening those who visit the facility, the statement said.

Members of the public visiting the hospital campus are asked to enter through the Emergency Department (Entrance 1) or main entrance (Entrance 3, off 18th Street) of the facility.

Hospital officials said, at this time, the most effective way to protect yourself and your loves ones is to practice the following:

  • Social distancing (avoid large public gatherings)
  • Proper hand hygiene – washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and using alcohol-based sanitizer as a secondary option
  • Covering cough
  • Not going in public if you are ill, especially if you have a fever
