Fundraising begins for Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena.

Fundraising is under way with a goal of $125,000 and at least 800 participants. The planning team will attend local festivals, hold team captain recruitment, recognition and development meetings, dine-to-donate meals, bake sales and more.

The Alzheimer’s Association uses donated funds to provide a free nationwide 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900), online message boards, support groups for patients and caregivers and for research to find a cure. The website alz.org/walk provides information about the Columbus walk, including how to become a walker, a team captain or a fundraiser to help fight Alzheimer’s, which is the sixth-leading cause of death in Indiana and the U.S.
