A local woman was arrested early Friday morning on several charges after she was accused of forcing her way into a Columbus house and battering the homeowner.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., CPD officers were sent to a residence in the 1900 block of Cottage Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The homeowner told officers that Katrina M. Wade, 27, of Columbus, gained access to his house by breaking in through the garage. The homeowner stated that once inside the home, Wade punched him in the face with a closed fist, Harris said.

Officers located Wade inside the home where she refused to cooperate with officers, Harris said. After a short struggle inside the house, Wade was taken into custody and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where she is being held on the following preliminary charges:

  • Residential entry
  • Battery resulting in bodily injury
  • Resisting law enforcement
  • Disorderly conduct
