ORLEANS
James Henry Strahl, 87, of Orleans, Indiana, passed away at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at his home. James was born September 7, 1932, in Brown County, Indiana, the son of Ransom Otto and Adeline Artis Strahl.
Jim Strahl served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after his service. He retired from Cummins Engine Company.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl (Kerry) VandeSteeg of Windham, New Hampshire, granddaughter, Amanda Miller of Aurora, Ohio, grandson, Kristopher (Nicole) VandeSteeg of St. Louis, Missouri; six great grandchildren, Tatum, Torrence, McKenzie, Eleanor, Alexander and Margaret; sister, Dorothy Hatcher of Maryville, Tennessee; brother, Ransom (Joan) Strahl of Columbus and fiancee, Carolyn Sue Sons of Orleans, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally; sisters, Irene Berry, Bernice Ketchum, Virginia Glasgow, Louise Gearhardt; brothers, Dennis Strahl, Dale Strahl and Dole Strahl.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Christiansburg Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard. Online condolences and special memories may be shared with the Strahl family at barkesweaverglick.com.
