When I choose to be objective, I can accept the belief that the President of the United States doesn’t consciously want to kill thousands of Americans.

However, when I study him I see an incompetent leader with an insatiable need for praise, a determination to follow his own instincts rather than accept the findings of the most expert doctors and scientists on the planet, and a total lack of empathy for those suffering.

We are facing the most dangerous threat to health in our lifetimes, and his actions or lack of actions is tantamount to pulling the trigger on what is now tens of thousands of Americans.

If Donald Trump is left unchecked that number will grow to hundreds of thousands and possibly millions.

My evidence:

  • Failure to pay attention to multiple warnings as early as January by experts within and outside his administration that COVID-19 had broken out in China and would spread worldwide.
  •  February 10: “Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away,”
  • February 14: “Because of all we’ve done, the risk to the American people remains very low… When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero. That’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”
  • March 4: “Now this is just my hunch…"
  • March 13: Refusal to accept responsibility. “I don’t take responsibility at all.” This has been followed many times by his scattershot blaming of his enemies, e.g, WHO, the government of China, Obama, Democrats and especially Democratic governors.
  • April 19: A total lack of empathy for victims of COVID-19. WSJ Reporter “Are you concerned that downplaying the virus maybe got some people sick?” Trump’s reply, “And a lot of people love Trump. A lot of people love me. You see them all the time. I guess I am here for a reason, and for the best of my knowledge I won. And I think we are going to win again. I think we are going to win in a landslide.”

America cannot wait until November to get rid of this guy.

I can only imagine how much more damage he can do to our great nation.

I have a dream that involves 100 or more Bartholomew County residents.

Many local citizens know Mike Pence personally. They might have gone to school or church or socialized with him, been a business colleague, or worked on his campaigns. They know him well enough to call him Mike in conversation. Surely, invoking the 25th Amendment has crossed the Vice-President’s mind. Wouldn’t it be great if some of his trusted friends contact him and try to influence him to test the water? Maybe he just needs a little push. If enough friends encourage him, maybe he will act.

I realize the Senate would be a big hurdle, but this would get the ball rolling. If enough of Mike’s hometown friends contact him, who knows? My dream might come true.
