Letter: ‘Face of the Army’ endorses Rohde

From: Trevor Whipker

Greenwood

I am a Nurse Practitioner in Columbus and a service member of the U.S. Army Reserves, having served as a combat medic for almost a decade.

After I shared my personal struggles of dealing with my younger brother’s death and my story of excelling in the medical field because of the skills I acquired in the Army, I was chosen to be the “Face of the Army,” and I fully endorse Jon Rohde to be our next Judge of Bartholomew County Superior Court II.

During Jon Rohde’s six years as Chief of Police, he supported our Veterans by actively recruiting and hiring them when they returned from their military service.

Rohde understands the value of providing men and women stability by giving them opportunities for a smooth transition into civilian life.

In addition, under Rohde’s leadership, the Columbus Police Department received the “Above and Beyond Award” from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the Reserve Components.

This award was presented to Rohde for going above and beyond all expectations in supporting active service members in their military assignments.

Subsequently, the United States House of Representatives announced a Congressional Record honoring the department for their support of the National Guard and Military Reserve.

Finally, Rohde was recruited by a local judge to assist with the formation of our county’s Veteran’s Court, and has served as a Veteran’s Court Committee Member.

Rohde has been instrumental in ensuring that veterans continue their service at home as productive members of our community.

The Face of the Army urges you to do what is best for our Veterans and active military personnel by casting your vote for Jon Rohde.
