Fire destroys garage on Sixth Street

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus firefighters are on the scene of a garage fire in the 2200 block of Sixth Street. The call came in at 5:43 a.m., said Columbus Fire Department spokesman Mike Wilson.

The fire, which destroyed a detached garage, is out at this time with no injuries reported at the scene.
The flames extended to a nearby utility pole causing damages to power-lines. Several homes in the area are without power at this time. Duke Energy is on the scene to make repairs. No time line available at this time as to when power will be restored.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
