Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop, Redevelopment Director Heather Pope and the Bartholomew County Commissioners have reached a tentative agreement for a land swap that will make way for future development in the downtown area.
The property involved is the Court Services building and county-owned parking lot between Second and Third Streets.
Per the agreement, the city would take ownership of the Court Services block and have agreed to assist the county with the building of a new Court Services building south of the Bartholomew County Jail.
Steve Risting of atelierRisting Architecture and Design has be contracted to work closely with both the City and the County to design an appropriate replacement for the current Court Services building.
