JENNINGS COUNTY — Before the pandemic shutdowns, the Jennings County Fair was scheduled to begin on June 8 has been postponed but Purdue Extension and 4-H events will be held virtually, instead of at the fairgrounds.
While some virtual events will begin June 8, most events will begin later in June and there will be continuing virtual events through most of July.
The community social events include amusement rides, food venders, commercial displays and grandstand entertainment events. The schedule for the social events of the fair is under the control of the Jennings Board of Commissioners and the Fair Board.
“We are still hanging in limbo as far as the Midway , food vendors and Grandstand go but we do know none of that will happen on June 8,” said Jennings County Commissioner Matt Sporleder.
Sporleder explained the Jennings County Fair Board and the Jennings County Commissioners are working together to try to save the social and entertainment parts of the fair .
“We are grasping at straws but we are trying everything we can to save that part of the fair. Safety has to be the first concern and we know that with the current pandemic guidelines, nothing will happen until after July 4 .”
