COLUMBUS
Charles M. Townsend, 74, of Columbus, Indiana, died at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Charles (Chuck) was born in Baltimore, Maryland, August 31, 1945, to the late Frank and Lydia S. (Baumes)Townsend.
Charles was a United States Navy Vietnam veteran. He was a loving, honest, hard-working man. He loved his wife and daughter unconditionally. He never met a stranger and all who knew him liked him immediately. He always had a story for those who would listen. We were lucky to have such a wonderful man. We will forever take his words and wisdom with us, passing his stories and memories on. He will be missed with all our heart.
Charles is survived by one brother, Bill Townsend of Virginia; his wife, Judy A. (Coffey) Townsend of Columbus; his daughters, Christina Townsend of Hope, Angie (Earl) Bontrager of Hope and Shila Ault of Florida; his grandchildren, Caylin Reeves and Ryan Reeves both of Hope, Deseree Ansley of Florida, Danielle (Greg) Drysdale of Hope, Adam Ault of Florida, Levi Bontrager of Hope and Shyann Ault of Florida; several great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Frances Townsend, Bob Townsend, Lawrence Townsend, Tom Townsend, Mary Lorey and Lola (Dwight) Holt.
In keeping with Mr. Townsend’s wishes, cremation is planned. There are no services scheduled at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
