BCSC asks families to fill out surveys on reopening

After concluding an unusual last quarter of the 2019-2020 school year, Bartholomew Consolidated School Corpl officials said they are focused on the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.

Working toward specific plans for reopening school, school officials said they are doing so with the following guiding principles in mind:
*Return as many students to our buildings as possible on Thursday, Aug. 6;
*Prioritize the health and safety of all students and staff members;
*Provide high quality instruction regardless of context;
*Ensure equity of access to high quality instruction for all students; and
*Provide families and students with choices and pathways that work best for individual learning needs.

Currently, school officials are reviewing the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Governor’s Office, Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), and the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) to discern between recommendations and requirements and consulting locally with officials at the Bartholomew County Health Department.

BCSC is seeking information from families as preparations continue and has released a survey for parents and guardians to be completed by June 19.

After June 19, school officials plan to review the data provided, analyze the current circumstances at both the local and state level, and publicly provide more specific information regarding reopening.
