COLUMBUS
Charles W. Thompson, 80, a resident Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Thompson was born April 7, 1940, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Maurice E. and Anna Lou Branum Thompson. On April 14, 1962, Charles married RuthAnne Crouch; she survives.
He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Thompson was a foreman at Golden Foundry retiring in 2003 after 40 years of service.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, RuthAnne; sons, David Thompson and his fiance, Sandy Amendola of Denver, Colorado and Troy Thompson and his wife, Brenda of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Audrei Thompson of the United Kingdom, Brooke Thompson of Denver, Colorado, Kaley Thompson of Denver, Colorado, Garrett (Kari) Thompson of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Gavan (Keshia) Thompson of Columbus, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Klair, Alaina, Koen and Eyzleigh Thompson of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Martin of Elkhart, Indiana, Patty Frazier of Seymour, Indiana, Jeanne Hall of Sullivan, Indiana and Kelly Crouch of The Netherlands.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Anna Thompson.
Private family services will be held. Mr. Thompson will be laid to rest in Section 83 at Garland Brook Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
