Ohio Campus Compact, a nonprofit membership organization of 40 Ohio colleges and universities, recently announced that Columbus’ Hannah Frey (Xavier University class of 2020) is a 2020 Charles J. Ping Student Service Legacy Award recipient.
The annual award recognizes and honors undergraduate students for their outstanding leadership and contributions to community service or service-learning on their campus and within their community.
The award recognition is granted annually to one undergraduate per Ohio Campus Compact member institution. Students nominated to be a Charles J. Ping Student Service Award recipient compete with other nominees from across the state for two $250 Legacy Award mini grants, to be given to a nonprofit organization of the recipient’s choice.
“Notwithstanding her extensive out-of-class obligations, she has excelled in academic and experiential settings and is well prepared to fulfill her vocational interest working in marginalized communities upon graduation,” Xavier University Michael J. Graham said. “Her heightened sense of empathy and compassion for vulnerable populations have prepared her well for these opportunities ahead.
