COLUMBUS
Glen D. Dixon, 80, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 2:19 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Silver Oaks Health Campus.
Mr. Dixon was born April 6, 1940, in Medora, Indiana, the son of Alva and Dorothy Lonsberry Dixon. On February 3, 1961, Glen married Janet Sue Stafford; she preceded him in death December 11, 2009.
A 1959 graduate of Medora High School, Mr. Dixon retired from Cummins Engine Company in 2004 after 43 years of service.
Mr. Dixon was a former member of Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Seymour, Indiana and was a member of the Westside Apostolic Church in Columbus. He enjoyed classic cars, dirt track racing and attending church.
Mr. Dixon is survived by his two sons, Greg Dixon of Columbus, Indiana and Jeff Dixon and his wife, Tiffaney of Beavercreek, Ohio; four granddaughters, Taylor, Brittaney, Breanna and Brandie; a niece; and three nephews.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Dorothy Dixon; his wife of 48 years, Janet Sue Dixon; and three brothers, Alva, Jackie and Rick Dixon.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington; Pastor Curtis Campbell and the Rev. Dennis Allman II will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. We do ask that patrons follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home.
Mr. Dixon will be laid to rest next to his wife at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
