Saying goodbye to a staple

A long-time business in the Columbus community will soon shut its doors for good.

Owner Lynne Hyatt is closing Lockett’s Ladies’ Shop, which has operated since 1989.

The shop, which first opened in the Commons Mall, has moved locations twice and is now nestled at 426 Washington St. Hyatt briefly opened a second location at River Bend from 2004 to 2007.

Once Hyatt closes her store, sometime in July, she will retire. Her plans include road trips, yard work and staying involved with community organizations such as the Mill Race Center.

While Lockett’s will be missed, we wish Hyatt well into her retirement years.
