COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Dale Long, 91, of Columbus, passed from this life at 8:20 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Long was born May 10, 1929, in Minneapolis, Kansas, the son of Kenneth Glen and Alma Fannie Bailey Long.
On December 27, 1953, Dale married Louise McClintic; she preceded him in death April 14, 2019.
Mr. Long was a United States Army veteran. In his younger years, Mr. Long farmed in Kansas. He was a building maintenance supervisor at Golden Foundry retiring in 2003 after 47 years of service.
He was a member of St. Louis Crossing Independent Methodist Church and his hobbies include fishing and working.
Survivors include his loving daughters, Beverly (Russ) Brown, Anita Turner and Beth (Steve) Coffman all of Columbus; grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Brown, Trent Brown, Alicia West, Jared Turner, Aaron (Sarah) Coffman and Laura (Dante) Burnett; great-grandchildren, Allison and Jackson Brown, Devin, Jaycen, Attalie and Nolan Turner, Clayton West, Ryder and Remington Coffman and Colt and Cade Burnett; sister, Doris Davis of Minneapolis, Kansas, sister-in-law, Donna Long of Beloit, Kansas; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Alma Long; his wife of 65 years, Louise; brothers, Ivan and Carroll Long and brother-in-law, Max Davis.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. We do ask that patrons follow the social distancing guidelines and recommend that masks are worn once inside the funeral home.
A private funeral service will be held with Tim Dillingham officiating. Mr. Long will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Garland Brook Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
