Around Town – July 1

Orchids to …

• the state for finally passing a law to deal with people being on phones while driving.

• all those wearing masks because they understand it’s a critical part of getting us beyond this pandemic.

• the federal candidate who is loyal to our country.

• those supporting law enforcement arresting those who break the law.

• the vice president for refusing to bend a knee to interviewers.

• Jean Donica for the beautiful flowers outside of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Onions to …

• not protesting the 14 people killed in Chicago this weekend.

• the high ranking Washington official who lies so often about everything, that, on the rare occasion when he does tell the truth, no one believes him.

• the “I’ll never wear a mask” ones, it’s not even the second wave, and the virus has gained the upper hand.

• the federal elected official getting most of his briefings from his favorite TV channel rather than government agencies.

• people having to decide to go to “Stage 5” when the virus hasn’t changed or we never had to do any of this in the first place.

• virus infections spiking in mostly red states which has something to say about those states’ leaders.

• the company that needs to give the pay cuts back to employees and get their factories out of communist China.

• government officials for not making wearing masks in public mandatory.

• candidates who don’t know that the council is responsible for fiscal matters, not policy-making.

• not remembering we were told two years ago the federal elected official doesn’t read his daily intelligence briefing, then thinking he didn’t know about Russian bounties.

• those accusing a letter writer and many others of being hateful.

• street for not having a 30 mph speed limit also with a radar sign posted as it seems to be working well for the new overpass.

• the local company complaining about the president’s stoppage of work visas when that company is laying off American workers.

• the candidate who has yet to say a single negative word about the looting, vandalism, and violence that is going on in the nation’s cities.

• schools even considering opening up schools when this pandemic is still running rampant and smaller children are more susceptible.
