State: 662 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19 as of Tuesday

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) today announced that 662 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 52,685 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus.

A total of 2,582 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 13 over the previous day. Another 193 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 578,409 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 570,409 on Monday.

Bartholomew County is reporting 609 positive cases (up four) and 45 deaths (no change).

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 481 positive cases (up two) and three deaths (no change).
  • Jennings County: 180 positive cases (up one) and 12 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 257 positive cases and 32 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 462 positive cases (up two) and 25 deaths (no change).
  • Johnson County: 1,366 positive cases (up 15) and 118 deaths (no change).
  • Brown County: 46 positive cases (up two) and one death (no change).

Intensive care unit and ventilator capacity remained steady. As of Tuesday, nearly 38 percent of ICU beds and more than 84 percent of ventilators were available.
