INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) today announced that 970 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 65,253 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.
A total of 2,746 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 13 over the previous day. Another 200 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.
To date, tests for 735,848 unique individuals have been reported to ISDH, up from 724,238 on Wednesday.
Bartholomew County is reporting 715 positive cases (up 13) with 47 deaths (no change) and a positivity rate of 5.6% as of July 23.
Surrounding counties reported:
- Jackson County: 539 positive cases (up five) with four deaths (no change) with positivity rate of 6.5%.
- Jennings County: 203 positive cases (up seven) with 12 deaths (no change) with positivity rate of 3.0%.
- Decatur County: 304 positive cases (up 14) with 32 deaths (no change) with positivity rate of 4.3%.
- Shelby County: 499 positive cases (up one) with 26 deaths (no change) with positivity rate of 8.4%.
- Johnson County: 1,600 positive cases (up 14) with 118 deaths (no change) with positivity rate of 6.7%.
- Brown County: 67 positive cases (up one) with one death (no change) with positivity rate of 1.9%.
As of Thursday, nearly 42 percent of ICU beds and nearly 84 percent of ventilators were available across the state.
