Randy Eudy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Eudy of Cherry Street, and Lisa Walters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark  Walters of South Beatty Street, were crowned Mr. and Miss State Street Playground during the parks department's series of summer playground programs at rotating city parks in 1970. The leaders of three of the city’s largest departments — police, fire and parks — requested 4 percent pay raises from Columbus City Council to compensate in part for two years with no raises for employees in those areas.

1995

County commissioners voted 4-2 to approve a 233-acre site along County Road 450S west of State Road 11 as the location for a new landfill at a cost of $1,771,812.

George Nentrup, owner of Columbus Bar on Fourth Street, began converting the former Horn’s Fish Shop next door into a family dining room large enough to seat 40.
